GETTING THERE

Lauterbrunnen is conveniently accessible from major Swiss cities, making it an ideal day trip destination. Here's how to get there from some key locations:


1. By Train:

You can purchase train tickets on SBB.ch, which offers an English language option. Prices are displayed in Swiss Francs (CHF).


- From Zurich: If you're starting in Zurich, the fastest way to reach Lauterbrunnen is by train. Hop on a direct train from Zurich Hauptbahnhof (main train station) to Interlaken, and from there, you can catch a connecting train to Lauterbrunnen. The scenic train journey itself is an experience, offering glimpses of Switzerland's stunning landscapes.

Journey Time: 2h 25 min. Change trains: 1, 2 or 3 (three routes available).

Price: From 31.60 CHF.


- From Geneva: If you're coming from Geneva, a train ride is also a great option. Take a train from Geneva to Bern, and then transfer to a train heading to Interlaken. Once in Interlaken, catch the connecting train to Lauterbrunnen.

Journey Time: 3h 40 min. Change trains: 2 or 3 (two routes available).

Price: From 33.60 CHF.


From Lucerne: If Lucerne is your starting point, you can take a train to Interlaken and then switch to a train bound for Lauterbrunnen. The train ride from Lucerne to Interlaken treats you to breathtaking views of Swiss lakes and mountains.

Journey Time: 2h 21 min. Change trains: 1.

Price: From 17.20 CHF.


2. By Car:

For those who prefer driving, you can rent a car and follow the Swiss road network to Lauterbrunnen. Keep in mind that while driving gives you flexibility, the train journeys are part of a Swiss vacation and offer some of the best views (really).

Staubbach Falls

One of Lauterbrunnen's most iconic attractions, and quite likely one of the most famous scenes on Lauterbrunnen's postcards, Staubbach Falls is the highest free-falling waterfall in Switzerland and the main waterfall in the village. You'll see it as soon as you step out of the train station.


Stroll through Lauterbrunnen Valley

Enjoy a relaxing walk through Lauterbrunnen village, where you can admire the 72 waterfalls gracing the cliffs, the breathtaking sea of Alps right in front of you, and the idyllic traditional houses along the streets. Just walking around the village will already make it all worth it.


Lauterbrunnen Church

As you explore the village, you'll soon come across the charming Kirche Lauterbrunnen, a lovely church nestled right in the heart of town. Strategically positioned with a dramatic mountain backdrop, this church offers the perfect spot for a photo.


Trümmelbach Falls

Just a short bus ride away, Trümmelbach Falls awaits you. These thundering waterfalls are nestled inside a mountain, offering a unique experience. Wander through a series of illuminated tunnels and platforms to witness the immense power of glacial meltwater carving its way through the rock.
